Our shipment of wheel chairs will arrive in Shenyang on June 29th. We are looking forward to SMOOTHLY receiving these chairs.

Cataract Surgeries: The head of the hospital, when we inquired about the ensuing surgeries, told us that right now she was busy with the surgeries for some older former patients who needed to do their second eye (originally needed surgery on both eyes for cataracts). Our Children’s Services Coordinator, Sophie has seen the elderly patients in the wards. This partnering hospital’s chief surgeon said they would begin the other children surgeries in a week or two.

Li Shuang is standing for a little while each day. Can you imagine her thrill? Keep thinking of her. By the way, although Li Shuang loved so much her new pink suede shoes, I do need to find some that are more for everyday. Tomorrow I will go to the market and try to find some. Right now we need non-skid and soft but yet that look like normal street shoes.

Fu Xiao Ying indeed was diagnosed with hydrocephalus and will need a shunt inserted into her cranial area. She was due to be returned to another orphanage on Friday now we will have to make other arrangements with that orphanage leaders so that we can keep her through having the shunt put in place.

Shen Wen Zhong will have cleft palate surgery after he heals up from a recent hernia operation. He is healing well from that surgery.

Shen Zhi Li is healing well from intra-cranial infection. She is doing so much better.

Heart surgeries: we still have two children who need the heart surgery. However the surgery may not be as expensive as we though. They will range between $3,500 to $7,000 USD.

We want to do our next training in TieLing. The health bureau there is very busy on other projects. We are waiting for their approval of our requested times to do our next VDT/TDT Follow-up Training. Mr. Yu of the health bureau is trying to contact the different health bureaus from the doctor’s different villages to get their approval of the videos. Each district health bureau must first give approval for the videos in their areas. We just got a call from Fushun and they are happy with the videos but just need to get the top leaders approval.

All is going well with the Brazilian Team. They have their visas and they are preparing to come on Friday. They will work first in Beijing for two weeks. The will arrive in our city on July 16th. The day that they arrive we are scheduling a cultural arts program at the Shenyang Horticultural Symposium.

Now we need for our government partner to come through with the sports schedule. He is a strong partner so we are sure he is putting together a good program. We discussed the important components in our last meeting. The challenge is that the universities begin their summer vacation on July 15th. Our team arrives on July 16th. Sometimes the students will be asked to stay for a special activity and they don’t mind especially if they like the activity.
