TABLE OF CONTENTS Fu Xiao Ying is 4 months old and is from Fu Xin Orphanage and we provided this child’s spina bifida surgery. She has now developed hydrocephalus, which, unfortunately, is common for children who have undergone this kind of surgery. She has gained a lot of weight and is otherwise healthy. We will have to have a shunt put into her head to drain the fluid from her brain. Si Yun Tao is a 13-month-old boy from Chaoyang orphanage. We provided his cleft lip surgery last year. This year in May we did his cleft palate surgery. The surgery was successful. Now he has just returned home. Fu Xiao Xiang is a 9-month-old boy who received our surgery yesterday. He seems to be doing quite well. The surgery was a wonderful success. Shen Wen Zhong is a 4-month-old boy who had a cleft lip, cleft palate and also a hernia. He had the hernia surgery first and it was successful. We will provide the cleft lip surgery next week. Then perhaps when he is a year old we can provide his cleft palate surgery. Thank you for our pr for little Zhong. Shen Zhi Li is an 8-month-old little girl. She has spina bifida for which we facilitated the surgery. She has developed an intra-cranial infection since her surgery. Cataract Surgeries: The next group of children with cataract surgeries will be done hopefully this week. These children are all from poor families. The first group of children who had surgery 21 days ago are all recovering just fine. They are now children with hope and vision. Thanks to Vision of Hope and Alcon Lenses. Li Shuang has had the second cast taken off and the pediatric orthopedic surgeon is very happy with the form of the leg and foot. Although one foot is much smaller than the other at least they are straight. I brought her a beautiful pair of hot pink suede sporty shoes from Beijing with a matching clutch bag. This 15 year-old girl has never worn a pair of shoes in her life. She was so thrilled to see those shoes on own feet. Can you imagine….. We need to have an additional piece of pink suede sewn into the right foot shoe so that the shortness of that foot cannot be seen. Then we will have to stuff a little cloth into the end of that shoe so that she can wear them comfortably. Heart Surgeries: We have from the Red Cross two children now who need heart surgery. These surgeries will likely run about $7,000 USD each. Please pr this in with us. We had a wonderful time taking our Foster Care children on a Birthday outing to the Riverside Park. Actually it was a rainy day. But rain cannot dampen a birthday party especially when there is CAKE! Foster moms and foster kids all came. We had some guests with us and we all had a wonderful time. Our container of CP wheel chairs will arrive next Monday. We are hopeful that we can receive and distribute them safely, securely, and that the intended children can receive them. We want the children to be blessed and the orphanages to be encouraged in their work. July 6-13 we have a medical clinic, which we will hold in Chaoyang. Our partner is the Provincial Foreign Affairs. We are looking forward to this a lot. Sincerely, Paula and Staff
