TABLE OF CONTENTS We had our TDT Christmas dinner. It was a simple dinner. But it was wonderful. We laughed and watched a performance by one of the doctors. It was a really enjoyable experience.
Hong Guang has been placed in her third home. A woman in the country side agreed to take her, unfortunately this arrangement is not going to work, and so, tomorrow we will have to take her back to the orphanage.
The Hospital is so beautiful. The renovations are so amazing. The General Manager of the renovation company came to our office today. I have invited him and his staff to my house for dinner on Thursday evening as a ‘Thank You’. We will probably have about ten people present for this meal.
It seems that the national insurance system is undergoing some restructuring. I want to negotiate with them for the right, as a charitable organization to switch from a corporate plan to a personal option.
We are in process of discovering the history of the property, it is useful to have this information so that we know how to proceed. We are having some difficulties getting the blueprints for the land at this time.
We still await the news of the on-off switch for the x-ray machine, which is being traced through the US postal system. The whole unit is installed in the Hospital in Henan. Only the on-off switch is needed. We are hoping for expedient retrieval.
The heart surgery for the child in Henan went well. The little girl is nearly completely recovered and with full strength. The other child’s parents backed out, opting to try to get help in Beijing where they felt that they would find better hospitals. So now the president of that hospital in Henan still needs to choose one more child of the several needing heart surgery there. We have one child here who needs surgery to open and clear the rectal opening. We are hoping for a successful reconstruction. This is not an uncommon deformity. We have had two of these cases recently. The other little patient is some what infected after his surgery. He also seems to have a vitamin deficiency and water on the brain. These precious ones sometimes have so many problems.
We have been approached by the Medical University regarding training nurses who are being sent to the USA. They felt that an American teacher would be able to best prepare them to enter the American medical system either in academic programs or in the work place. The person connected with the University Nurses Training Center will come to our office to meet with us on Thursday morning.
Sincerely, Paula and Staff
